Over the past two weeks, we’ve rolled out official announcements about the selection of 2011-12 Schweitzer Fellows at many of our program sites. Though there are still more official announcements on their way (about our Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Lambarene Schweitzer Fellows Programs), here’s a roundup of selection coverage to date. We hope it leaves you as excited as we are about the work these emerging leaders in service will carry out over the coming year — and throughout their lives:

- “Nunez is the only law student among the 25 Boston Schweitzer fellows. Her aim is to address health and social disparities by re-establishing an on-site legal clinic at Whittier Street Health Center through coordination with the health center’s staff and local lead organizations.”

- “Charles developed a project to improve the mental health of fathers who reside in underserved communities by supporting them. His project works to create an environment that will help these individuals deal with the obstacles that arise as a result of limited resources and lack of support.”

- “Rajadhyksha will carry out a health and science education program for underserved 5th graders. She plans to integrate the 5-2-1-0 Healthy Kids Countdown, a health promotion initiative based on evidence-based messaging emphasizing healthy nutritional choices and behaviors.”
