“I believe that there is reason for hope. Hope is there like a small band of light on the sky before the sunrise. There begins to stir in the world a new spirit, a spirit of humanity.” — Dr. Albert Schweitzer

As we prepared to mark the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, we stumbled across this quote from our namesake — and then couldn’t stop thinking about it. As we remember and mourn those who lost their lives on that clear, blue morning — and as we reflect on all of the ways our world changed both in that split-second and in the ten years since — may we try to reach for that “small band of light on the sky” and move forward with hope instead of despair.
