Here at ASF, we’re beyond excited about this year’s Fellows for Life Conference keynote speaker, Wynona Ward — a Schweitzer Fellow for Life and a 2010 CNN Hero who has dedicated her life to ending the cycle of domestic violence in rural communities.
At our Conference on October 16 in Baltimore, we’re pleased to announce that we’ll be collecting donations of toiletries for the organization Ward founded and runs, Have Justice-Will Travel (HJWT). This unique and innovative mobile program has provided free legal and social support to more than 10,000 abuse victims in rural Vermont—and your donations of practical items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, deodorant, soap, and other toiletries will mean a great deal to these women and children in need.
So let’s all do our part: if you’re flying to the Conference, fill up your quart-size plastic bag with travel-size toiletries. If you’re driving or taking the train, bring as many toiletries as you can carry in your suitcase. And rest assured that you’re making a difference: “Items such as these go out the door almost as fast as they come in,” Ward says.
